Winter Twilight

Getting up in the middle of the night for a 90 minute drive followed by a two hour hike up a mountain in minus 20C may not sound like a lot of fun, but it’s worth all the pain when you’re rewarded with a view like this. I got to the top just in time to wade off-piste through the thigh deep snow to find my perfect composition, when the sky turned violet. The mixture of the violet hues reflected from the sky with the orange glow from the east gave the snow plastered trees this unique look of cotton candy cones. The whole spectacle lasted just a minute, but I managed to save it forever.
