Intimate Dunes II

To me, as a mathematician, there’s something irresistible in the scenes that invoke the sense of infinity. And what could be a better metaphor for infinity than an endless dune field, with its little grooves waving away towards the horizon. I took this image one December morning in Death Valley, on my very first trip to the dunes. The light was perfect, and focusing on a few gentle curves it felt almost like I was embraced by the warm gentle body of Mother Nature.
